THE PIONEER ENGINEERING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Spring Automation is pleased to announce the launch of the Pioneer Program.

Nashville, TN — Thursday, October 7th, 2021 — Spring Automation has developed an Engineering Development Program called The Pioneer. The program is over two years designed to focus on Commissioning and Training. It will consist of extensive travel, and a participant will commission projects across the United States to develop skills to become an Elite Engineering Professional. Throughout the program, individuals will complete associate level training as part of Spring’s Certification program between the various projects.

The Pioneer Program roadmap includes three rotations over two years. The first rotation is working with Cognex, a Spring Automation End-user. As a Cognex Logistics Partner Integrator, program participants will commission scan tunnels. Partnering with Cognex has enabled Spring to expand its capabilities with vision and ID systems.

The second rotation includes working with an OEM Sortation. Our job at Spring is to receive the components and commission them to full functionality. This includes calibrating a weight scale, vision system, and dimensioning sensors which feed data to a server. OEM Sortation has test criteria, which requires us to be exceptionally accurate in our work. Partnering with OEMs to commission their sorters and other equipment prepares engineers to test larger control systems functionality. The third rotation is based around Controls. Spring is proud to provide controls solutions across North America. A program participant will have the opportunity to perform on-site commissioning of large conveyor systems through IO checks, networks configuration, functional testing, and troubleshooting PLC & HMI programs.

After the completion of the program, engineers will have an opportunity to transition into a variety of engineering roles, including Controls, Commissioning, Cognex, and Application Engineering. Leaders include Jeff Sherman, a Spring Automation Commissioning Team Lead, and Nash Orten, a Spring Automation Team Lead and Training Coordinator. The Pioneer Program is designed to have the opportunity to have a streamlined hands-on experience and work with exciting end-users in the Parcel, Retail, and other industries.
